The holiday lights are magical around Chicago! Beautiful displays can be seen by driving through neighborhoods but if you want to really see the magic, here are a few of my very favorite displays!
Botanic Garden in Glencoe: The Wonderland Express is a giant display filled with hundreds of plants and flowers. Garden scale trains whiz through the multi-tiered display. Chicago landmark buildings are depicted and created of plant materials. See how many you can find! It’s fun for the whole family. An added bonus is that Com Ed customers can get a buy one/get one free coupon!
Arlington Heights North School Park: You can’t help but feel the holiday spirit at North School Park! It’s located at Arlington Heights Road and Eastman. The village goes all out with a lighted tree and toy-themed displays. Pack a thermos of hot chocolate and a bag of holiday cookies before you walk through the park packed with fun things like a lighted train and windmill. One of the very prettiest village displays.
Brookfield Zoo Holiday Magic: Over one million LED lights artfully arranged for a dramatic show! Brookfield Zoo also offers a holiday video light show. The hundreds of trees that are theme decorated by community groups are fun to see. The indoor animal exhibits are open for viewing.
Cuneo Mansion Holiday Light Show Vernon Hills: If this has been one of your holiday traditions, be sure to get there this year as it may be the last year for the show. Just follow the cars that are lined up on Milwaukee Avenue just north of Route 60! Wind through the property and view thousands of decorated trees and figures. Pack up the kids with some hot chocolate, cookies, and their favorite blankets. This is one of my very favorites because it’s beautiful and I get to stay warm in my car! Admission is $5 per car Monday through Thursday and $10 per car on the weekends.
Donald E Stephens Park Rosemont: Rosemont really gets in to the holiday spirit. It seems like every tree and building in Rosemont is decorated. Walk through the big display at Donald E. Stephens park located at Higgins and Scott Streets.
There are so many fabulous holiday displays throughout Chicago and its suburbs. Pick one (or 5!) and create some memories. Happy Holidays!
